The Sweeping of Rainbows

wow! that's all that i can really say regarding the series against the louisiana tech bulldogs. i really don't know what happened to the bows during this last road trip but the team that left hawaii is not the team that showed up to play this weekend. well, telling by the title you an probably tell that hawaii failed to win a game this series. the highlight of the series was definately the final game played on sunday. we had morford leading off as he slid into garcia's spot after his 4 for 4 slug fest on friday night, and he started this game off with a shot to left field. Vinnie Catricala seemed to have eaten his wheaties this morning, getting a few hits and making some awesome plays on the corner. it's been a while since we've seen CJ step up to the plate and as dave put it, "he's a homer or nothing" kinda guy, and CJ took one deep off the bulldog's starter. kolt did the right thing today by picking up the orange bat (i think his little slump was due to his blue bat selection) and he smashed quite a few hits into the outfield. honestly i think we coulda won this game but like many of the die hard UH fans, we blame the 3rd base coach by holding wayyyyyy too many runners at 3rd today! ok... holding lando or kevin from barreling down to the plate trying to beat a throw is prolly a good choice but c'mon.... holding kolt when we were up by 1, then CJ when we were down by 1 in the 8th!!! we could have at least tied and saw what happened in the extra innings. sheeesh and the bulldogs went through about 5 pitchers in the bottom of the 9th where the bows made a valiant last effort to put something together. got 2 runners on from a base hit and a walk, got a ground ball and moved the guys over to 2nd and 3rd, and then i see CJ strollin up to the plate as i'm thinking "nice we're gonna win or tie it up, cuz CJ hits bombs and at least we can get a sac-fly" and nope.... pinch hitter... shane steps up to the plate and freakin strikes out!! HORRIBLE!! and so our last chance is matt, steppin up against the 3rd pitcher of the inning, and he fouls off six pitches and gets a ball, and with a 1 and 2 count, here comes another pitcher for the dogs, and matt fouled off a few more pitches before striking out and ending our horrible series with louisiana tech. i just hope that we have enough wins and votes or whatevers to still play in the WAC tourney! i guess we need a little more of this prayer action!
